(Brook ward),most of staff take time to help patients, there's only one member of staff (dawn baker) who made more of an effort and time to listen to patients and helped as much as she could, activities were offered but was limited due to missing items or damaged, food has improved since last time. I'm in for the second time this year and it has improved alot, I can honestly say I'm pleased with my treatment second time around.

Disgusting place my partner pretty much got told top shut up and deal with his problem the prescribed wrong meds which made him seriously ill and could have put my newborn in danger

dreadful treatment of a family member, the staff shout and forcibly move the patients behind closed doors. the Head maintenance office at the rear of the main building is run by a middle aged Nazi type. he will not fix the bedroom window because of budget costs. you should avoid this dirty place.

I stayed at Penn Hospital when it was Juniper Ward for women back in March 2011. The staff were friendly and helpful. It seemed a scary place at first. I soon got better and i was given a care plan and even a little celebration with a few other patients ready for my departure. I couldn't wait to go back to my family but had i not been bought in i may not be alive today. I love my therapy courses that i have through the outpatient complex care team. They are extremely helpful. The only fault i have with the service is the Crisis Team and i am not the only patient to complain. You are advised to just relax and listen to music, etc when you are telling them you don't feel sound minded and twice now my husband has found me attempting to take my own life and the crisis team just weren't interested. They expected my husband to care for me which just isn't on as he isn't qualified or paid to do the job the crisis team should be doing. Even a social worker called after i was found with a ligature but because i was alive and with her and my husband they didn't feel i needed their service (which is a disgrace). I never call the crisis team now because i feel patronized and many patients feel this way. That may be why suicide is on the rise because many don't reach out because they feel they are just an inconvienience. We have been told there are no beds on many occasions. You practically have to beg to be sectioned in order to be safe and it wasnt like that before. My Dr is amazing i can't thank him enough for his support. I just feel the crisis team let mental health services down and that's a shame.

Having moved from a previous dreadful Trust, the team at Penn Hospital have been amazing. As an inpatient, the staff offered me support and empathy. The women's ward was nicely decorated - a small thing that made being there less scary. I've had several years of outpatient support from the Complex care team and they've helped me to start to put my life back together. My CPN is literally a life saver! Yes, services aren't perfect but the staff are caring and work wonders with such limited funds.
