Said to be the oldest building in Wolverhampton, St Peter's Collegiate Church is on the site of an medieval monastery but itself was largely built in the 14th and 15th centuries. The red sandstone building is a clear example of the Decorated style, particularly ornate and impressive.Inside the church, the nave has a very high ceiling with highly decorated roof timbers. There is a 15th century font and an incredibly impressive pulpit. The chancel is long and narrow, with another impressive ceiling. The woodwork is intricately carved.The church is fairly easy to access, and the surrounding gardens are pleasant.
